The latest album by the German power metal group Blind Guardian is a fantastic concept album based on the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien. The very epic songs are extremely well written, and the musicianship is great. It also has a very medieval type feel to it, which I personally like, but might turn off some. Unlike most power metal bands the vocals are not high pitched, but melodic singing and gritty shouting. One of the best albums of the year, and one of the best power metal albums I've heard.
